Thoughts on War Contractors

Halliburton, KBR, Blackwater, etc. are Contractors

Their employees are contractor employees

Security- which include Iraqi Police training employee contractors are allowed
to carry weapons

Other contract employees are not allowed to carry weapons and rely heavily
on Private Security contractors and/or the military.

  • Many contractors are Prior Military Veterans who have gone to Iraq after
retirement to help support their brothers in arms and who are over the
re-enlistment age.  Who are now classified as  "Priority 8 Group" -
veterans are NOT allowed treatment  through the VA, because they were
injured in the war as a employee contractor, not as a military personal.

  • Another type of contractors who go and do logistical support, provide
things like food and water to our military, these types are know by the
    military as Civilian contractors.

  • Other contractors went to rebuild Iraq by supervising and providing
much oversight while working with Iraqi's on building and installations of
hospitals, airports, roads, bridges, water, electric. These are those that
work on the infrastructure contract. Here in America we call them
Construction Contractors.  Many of who do not live on a military camp.
***Keep in mind before the War many of these types of Construction
contractors were sent over to start working on these projects and well...
the rest is history.  (see: Eugene Armstrong)

  • Intermittent employees
  • In the federal government, intermittent employees have no fixed work
schedule and generally are not eligible for sick or annual leave, health
or life insurance benefits, or Thrift Savings Plan participation, NTEU said.
